OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — The Portland regional Metro council agreed Tuesday to make an offer on the former Blue Heron paper mill property on the Willamette River in Oregon City.
Metro says it’s a “foot in the door” that does not obligate it to buy the 23-acre property. The mill went out of business in February.
The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/pOqLvE ) a bankruptcy court trustee set an Oct. 19 deadline for bids.
Metro and other public agencies hope to redevelop the property and open the Willamette Falls to the public.
