SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Groundbreaking is scheduled Wednesday for a new medical school building at Washington State University’s campus in Spokane.
The $70 million building will allow for a dramatic expansion of medical school education in the region, and also contain a consolidated WSU College of Pharmacy.
Medical students from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska will take classes in the new building as part of the WWAMI medical education program administered in Eastern Washington by WSU and the University of Washington.
Students in the Spokane program will take their first year of medical school in Spokane, their second year in Seattle, and third and fourth years at Spokane hospitals.
