TOKYO (AP) — Beijing Olympic captain Alicia Sacramone is not included in the U.S. women’s lineup for qualifying at the world gymnastics championships after injuring her right Achilles’ tendon Thursday, though she will stay on the team’s roster.

Sacramone was hurt while doing a tumbling pass during training. She had tests at a local hospital, and USA Gymnastics is waiting for her doctor back in the United States to evaluate them before making a final determination on her status. Worlds begins Friday with women’s qualifying, and the U.S. women compete Saturday.

By leaving Sacramone on the roster, she would receive a medal if the Americans win one. Sacramone currently has nine world medals, tying her with Shannon Miller and Nastia Liukin for most by an American.
