MIAMI (AP) — A person familiar with Chad Henne’s status says the Miami Dolphins quarterback has decided to have season-ending shoulder surgery and will be placed on injured reserve Thursday.

The person confirmed the situation to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins had not commented on Henne’s status.

Henne separated his left shoulder in the first quarter of Sunday’s game at San Diego. He was replaced by Matt Moore, who is expected to make his first start for the Dolphins in their next game Oct. 17 against the New York Jets.

Henne has lost his past seven starts for the Dolphins, who are 0-4 with a bye this week.
