WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama gets to spend part of his day on basketball when he welcomes the Texas A&M University Women’s Basketball Team to the White House on Thursday.

Besides honoring their 2011 NCAA championship, Obama is recognizing the team’s efforts to give back to their community. The Texas A&M women also are giving a basketball clinic at the White House for kids from the Washington area.

Earlier, the president will get his daily briefing. Later in the afternoon he and Vice President Joe Biden meet with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Oval Office.
