OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Gov. Chris Gregoire has received a refund for a hotel stay in France during a recent trade mission.

Gregoire spokesman Cory Curtis said Friday that a Paris hotel acknowledged overcharging the governor and reduced the rate for her room to $350 per night, down from nearly $500. The new number is below federal guidelines for government travelers staying in Paris.

The Associated Press reported last week that the state spent close to $100,000 when Gregoire led the delegation through Europe, including costly hotel stays and per diems that estimated $84 dinners. Gregoire says the trip, including the Paris Air Show, provided a vital opportunity for the state to meet with leaders in the aerospace industry.
