Cards-Phillies a hit on TBS

NEW YORK (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies were a hit on TV.

St. Louis’ 1-0 victory over Philadelphia in Game 5 of the NL division series Friday night received a 5.1 rating and was seen by 8,389,000 viewers on TBS, a National League record for first-round games on cable.

The Arizona Diamondbacks at Milwaukee Brewers game that started at 5:07 p.m. EDT Friday received a 3.0 rating and was seen by 4,592,000 viewers on TBS.

TBS and TNT averaged 4,190,000 viewers and a 2.7 rating for the record 19 games played in the best-of-five first round. Three of the four series went to five games for the first time since the wild card began play in 1995.

The 15 games on TBS in 2010 averaged a 2.8 rating.
