Colgate rallies to beat Monmouth 26-14

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Gavin McCarney had three touchdowns to lead Colgate in a come-from-behind 26-14 win over Monmouth on Saturday.

The Raiders (3-3) trailed 14-6 with 3:09 left in the second quarter before scoring three straight times.

Colgate started the rally when McCarney scored on a 1-yard run to cut the Hawks’ lead to 14-12 with 32 seconds left in the first half after Joe Uglietto missed his second extra point. McCarney then hit Daniel Cason on a 22-yard TD, and ran in the two-point conversion to give the Raiders a six-point lead with 10:15 left in the third quarter.

Colgate finished the scoring with Nate Eachus’ 1-yard runs.

McCarney was 16 of 23 for 204 yards and also had a 15-yard passing score to CJ Stempeck. Eachus added 139 yard on 27 carries.

Kyle Frazier led the Hawks (2-3) with a TD and 185 yards on 19 of 29 passes.
