Florida International rolls past Akron 27-17

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Darriet Perry set a school record for career rushing touchdowns as Florida International defeated Akron 27-17 on Saturday.

Perry scored twice for a total of 26 in his career. His 2-yard run tied the game at 10-10 in the second quarter, and then his 3-yard run with 12:38 to play in the game provided the final margin. Perry surpassed Rashod Smith, who ran for 24 career touchdowns.

Also, Kendrick Rhodes rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown for FIU (4-2).

Wes Carroll, who threw for 303 yards, became the first FIU player to pass for at least 300 yards in consecutive games. T.Y. Hilton set a school record with 12 catches for 144 yards, and has at least 100 yards receiving in four games this season.

FIU’s win snapped a two-game losing streak.

Clayton Moore passed for 157 yards and rushed for 58 and a touchdown for Akron (1-5).
