DOVER, Del. (AP) — Chris Walley threw two touchdowns and ran for another as Norfolk State defeated Delaware State 48-31 on Saturday for the Spartans’ fourth straight win.

Walley, who finished with a career-high 327 yards, connected with Victor Hairston in the first quarter, then found receiver Xavier Boyce from 18 yards out to give Norfolk State (5-1, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a 31-7 lead late in the third quarter. Boyce finished with 10 catches for 124 yards.

Takeem Hedgeman paced the Spartans’ ground game, recording career highs in both rushing yards (132) and touchdowns (two). Hedgeman scored the game’s opening touchdown on a 58-yard run and capped off scoring with a 5-yard touchdown with 3:01 to play.

Delaware State (2-4, 0-3) threw the ball well, as Nick Elko had 339 passing yards and two touchdowns, but the Hornets struggled to move the ball on the ground, managing only 28 yards on 25 carries.
