Searchers found skeletal remains and jewelry Sunday afternoon in the area where a missing California woman was last seen during the Rainbow Family Gathering in early July.
Officials have not positively identified the remains, but they are believed to be those of Marie Hanson, according to a release from Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox.
Hanson, 54, was last seen on the morning of July 8 near her camp in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. She was attending the Rainbow Family Gathering peace festival in Skookum Meadows, and was scheduled to leave for home the day she disappeared, her family said.
Hanson’s family was notified that the remains were found, Cox said.
There was no immediate word as to how Hanson might have died.
