WAPATO, Wash. (AP) — Yakima County sheriff’s detectives are hoping tips from the public will identify the driver of a hit-and-run car that injured a 13-year-old boy in Wapato.
The boy was picking up aluminum cans along the side of a road Saturday when he was hit. The car did not stop.
The boy was conscious and alert when fire department responders took him to a Yakima hospital.
The sheriff’s office says the accident happened on a straight and level roadway in daylight, but traffic was heavier than normal due to the apple harvest.
