OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — The Clackamas County, Ore., sheriff’s office says more than 50 volunteer searchers hunted successfully in heavy rain and wind for a Portland woman missing in the Mount Hood National Forest.
Sgt. James Rhodes says the search for Lidiya Russu will resume Tuesday. Low cloud cover prevented the use of aircraft in Monday’s search. The area is described as very remote, steep and rugged.
The 47-year-old woman was reported missing Friday, and her car was found Saturday off a Forest Service road near High Rocks lookout.
Her family says she was not prepared to stay in the forest.
