Battle Ground police arrested a 24-year-man Sunday night after an off-duty Vancouver police officer saw him acting suspiciously in a car with a passenger, as if they were dealing drugs.

David O. Williams of Battle Ground was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, according to a bulletin.

About 9:30 p.m. Sunday, a VPD officer saw what he considered suspicious behavior at Fairgrounds Park in the 900 block of East Main Street.

When the car drove away, an officer pulled it over and arrested Williams, the bulletin said.

A drug-sniffing dog showed interest in the car, which was impounded. Officers applied for a search warrant for the car.

The passenger in the car was released.
