ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — John Fox is going to wait a day to announce his starting quarterback.

The Denver Broncos coach gave his players the day off Monday and didn’t want to let everyone else know before Tim Tebow or Kyle Orton finds out.

Tebow replaced Orton and energized the Broncos and their fans before coming up short in a 29-24 loss to San Diego on Sunday.

Despite his flawed footwork and trouble handling the snaps from center J.D. Walton, Tebow threw for a touchdown and ran for another in nearly erasing a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit.

Fox insisted he didn’t even know himself who his quarterback will be. He said he’ll meet with his staff and review the film Monday, then reveal his decision when his players reconvene Tuesday.
