Battle Ground — An Oct. 18 groundbreaking ceremony will mark the beginning of a $4.8 million road extension project in Battle Ground.

Crews will extend Southwest Scotton Way west through Lewisville Highway (state Highway 503) to Southwest 20th Avenue. The project, intended to improve traffic flow with a new east-west connection, will also put a signalized intersection where Scotton Way crosses the highway.

The project is being paid for by the city with the help of federal stimulus money and bonds.

The groundbreaking begins at 1 p.m. near the west end of the project site on the 1300 block of Southwest 20th Avenue.
