HOUSTON (AP) — The NFL has set the date for the first outdoor Super Bowl in a cold-weather city — Feb. 2, 2014 at the New Jersey Meadowlands.
At the owners meetings Tuesday, the league announced the early February date. Also considered was Feb. 9, 2014.
By selecting that earlier date, the NFL assured the Super Bowl would not conflict with the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
