CHELAN, Wash. (AP) — The crush is on at wineries in north central Washington.

Like many other crops in the state, grapes were a little late this year, but the harvest is under way in the Lake Chelan viticultural area — a region recognized for unique climate and soil that distinguish wines.

The Wenatchee World reports (http://bit.ly/o4hpga ) there are 16 wineries around the lake.
