BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia Tech says starting outside linebacker Jeron Gouviea-Winslow will miss the remainder of the season with a sprained left foot.

The school says the Lisfranc sprain was confirmed Thursday by an MRI. The redshirt junior will undergo surgery next week at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg.

Gouveia-Winslow, who was injured while disrupting a fake field goal attempt by Miami in the No. 19 Hokies’ 38-35 victory Saturday, will be replaced by Alonzo Tweedy in the starting lineup. Tweedy had eight tackles and a sack against Miami.

Gouveia-Winslow is the fourth prominent Hokies player sidelined for the season with an injury. He joins defensive linemen Kwamaine Battle and Antoine Hopkins, both out with knee injuries, and wide receiver Dyrell Roberts (arm) is also out.

Virginia Tech plays at Wake Forest Saturday.
