INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Butler Bulldogs couldn’t wait to get back to work.
Just 15 minutes after NCAA rules allowed them to open practice Friday, the two-time NCAA runner-ups hit the court.
Yes, expectations are soaring at the small school that has advanced to the Final Four the last two seasons. Butler returns two starters and key backups Khyle Marshall and Chrishawn Hopkins from last season’s team.
Plus, they’re getting senior Garrett Butcher back.
The former Indiana high school all-star had surgery on both knees after his sophomore season and persistent pain prevented him from practicing during the second half, too. As the 6-foot-7 forward heads into his senior season, he says he’s ready to be a key contributor.
