LINZ, Austria (AP) — Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia defeated Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-4 Saturday to reach her first WTA final in more than three years at the Generali Ladies.
The seventh-seeded Cibulkova will meet Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova or the former top-ranked Jelena Jankovic in Sunday’s final.
Cibulkova, who last played a final in Montreal in 2008 and is yet to win a WTA event, dropped serve at 2-1 but broke back immediately and closed out the first set by winning 16 straight points.
Cibulkova broke Safarova’s serve again at 4-4 in the second set and served out the match with a love game.
