PAMPLONA, Spain (AP) — Colombian cyclist Juan Mauricio Soler has been released from the hospital four months after fracturing his skull during a crash at the Tour of Switzerland.

His Movistar team says he still faces a long recovery and will need further rehabilitation at a clinic before he can return to Colombia. Soler sustained brain injuries in the June 16 crash and was kept in a medical coma for three weeks.

The 28-year-old rider says he is putting all his energy into regaining his health but tires very quickly. He can now brush his teeth and shave without help.

Soler’s wife, Patricia, says her husband was encouraged by messages of support from across the world and visits by teammates and riders from other squads.
