KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say an autopsy confirmed that a suspect in a Southern Oregon killing hanged himself in the Klamath County jail.
Deputies found the body of William Dean Moore in his cell Tuesday, and an autopsy was conducted Thursday.
Moore had pleaded not guilty to the August shooting of Lynda Dunham on her parents’ front porch 10 miles east of Chiloquin in what investigators say may have originated as a neighborhood dispute.
His court-appointed attorney, Phil Studenberg, said Moore was having difficulty in jail, and the day before he died, the state had approved a mental evaluation.
