OSAKA, Japan (AP) — Rain washed out play at the Japan Open on Friday, forcing the rescheduling of the quarterfinal matches in the WTA Tour event to Saturday.

Top-seeded Samantha Stosur, the U.S. Open champion, will play seventh-seeded Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa, while second-seeded Marion Bartoli of France will take on sixth-seeded Ayumi Morita of Japan.

The other quarterfinals will pit third-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany against defending champion Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand, and fourth-seeded Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic versus unseeded Jie Zheng of China.
