NEW YORK (AP) — Boisterous and Denomination captured the $100,000 turf stakes on Saturday at Belmont Park.
The even-money favorite, Boisterous, surged in deep stretch to edge Sleepless Knight by a half-length in the Knickerbocker. John Velazquez was aboard for trainer Shug McGaughey as the 4-year-old improved to 5 for 13. The time was 1:51.42 for the 1 1-8 miles on the course labeled good.
Denomination beat even-money favorite Unbridled Humor by 234 lengths in the Athenia for fillies and mares. A 5-year-old trainer by Christophe Clement and ridden by Joe Bravo, Denomination paid $11 to win for her seventh victory in 22 starts. The time was 1:44.17 for the 1 1-16 miles.
