Wofford routs Virginia-Wise 47-14

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Wofford scored all of its points in the first half and rolled to a 47-14 win over Virginia-Wise, an NAIA school, on Saturday.

Eric Breitenstein rushed for two touchdowns and Brian Kass passed for 101 yards and three scores on 5-of-8 passing for the Terriers (5-1). Breitenstein has rushed for at least 100 yards in five games this season. He scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards in the first quarter for a 14-0 Wofford lead. The Terriers led 21-0 in the second quarter before the Highland Cavaliers scored on an 86-yard kickoff return by Marcus Bratton to trim the deficit to 21-7.

On the ensuing kickoff, Derek Boyce set a school record with a 99-yard kickoff return for the Terriers that sparked 26 unanswered points.

Kass’ three touchdown passes followed — 29 yards to Brenton Bersin, 13 yards to Kenny Barnes and 27 yards to Michael Harpe.
