Clark women’s soccer team tops Chemeketa

Men's team comes up short

The Clark College women’s soccer team stopped a five-match losing streak with a 4-1 win Saturday over Chemeketa at Salem, Ore.

Brittany Wilson and Kelsey Frasier each scored two goals for Clark (3-9-0, 3-6-0 NWAACC South Division).

Wilson, a Skyview High grad, scored the first two goals as Clark led at halftime 2-1. Frasier, a Hudson’s Bay grad, assisted on Wilson’s first goal and scored her goals in the 67th and 75th minute. Diana Garcia, a White Salmon grad, assisted on Wilson’s second goal.

In the men’s match, division leading Chemeketa scored the game’s first three goals to defeat second-place Clark 5-1 at Salem.

Clark (6-2-3, 4-1-3 NWAACC South division) scored in the 60th minute on a goal by Borche Atanasov with an assist from David Casaras-Sanches.

Clark, ranked fourth in the NWAACC, had not lost in its last seven matches. Chemeketa (10-2-2, 6-2) was ranked seventh in the last poll.

The Clark soccer teams host Southwestern Oregon on Wednesday. The women play at 2 p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m.
