Broncos may be set to trade Lloyd

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Lloyd isn’t at the Denver Broncos’ practice amid speculation he’s about to get traded to the St. Louis Rams.

The bold move would come a week after the team promoted Tim Tebow ahead of Kyle Orton at quarterback.

The Rams need another downfield threat for a banged-up offense led by Sam Bradford, and Lloyd would reunite with former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, now the Rams’ offensive coordinator.

Lloyd is in the final year of a deal that pays him about $1.4 million, a bargain for a player who led the league with 1,448 yards receiving last year, when he caught 77 passes, 11 of them for touchdowns.

His numbers are down this year — 19 receptions for 283 yards and no touchdowns in four games.
