NEW YORK (AP) — Big East Commissioner John Marinatto says the conference’s exit fee will jump to $10 million when the league executes its expansion plan.

Marinatto declined to talk about specific schools the Big East wants to add, but says the Big East has “identified specific teams, and if any one of those teams commits (to joining the league), the exit fee increases.”

Officials in the Big East have told The Associated Press that the conference’s plan is to have a 12-team football league by adding Boise State, Navy and Air Force as football-only members and Central Florida, Houston and SMU for all sports.

Marinatto says the leaders of the Big East’s 14 current members, not including Pittsburgh and Syracuse, unanimously approved increasing the fee.
