MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The sports agency that represents Christian Ponder has tweeted that the rookie quarterback will start for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday against Green Bay.
SportsTrust Advisors sent a tweet on Tuesday congratulating its client for earning the start against the Packers. The Associated Press left messages for agent Jimmy Sexton and Vikings officials seeking further comment.
NFL.com first reported that coach Leslie Frazier informed Ponder and veteran Donovan McNabb of his decision.
Frazier said Monday he would announce his decision on Wednesday. The Vikings are 1-5 and coming off a 39-10 loss at Chicago.
Ponder was the 12th pick in April’s draft out of Florida State.
