Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon has launched a new music therapy group and choir in Vancouver.
The group is for people with Parkinson’s disease who speak too softly as well as for their care partners and family members.
Anne Vitort, a local music therapist, helped develop the first Parkinson’s music therapy group in Oregon – the Tremble Clefs of Portland – with Earthtones Music Therapy Services. She received many local requests to start a similar group in Vancouver.
The Vancouver program will focus on vocal health and will help address voice and communication problems through breathing, stretching and posture activities, as well as vocal exercises.
