Letter: Reject Initiative 1183

Published: October 20, 2011, 5:00pm

Near my home is a section of road that is wooded and relatively remote. People of a certain ilk like to throw garbage and litter there, and I pick it up rather than look at it.

Voters would be surprised at all the alcohol containers that are tossed out of the autos, not just beer cans and wine bottles, but also hard liquor containers.

It seems a safe assumption that a good deal of that alcohol has been consumed by drivers. It also seems logical that making hard liquor readily available at a multitude of convenience stores will lead to even more drunk driving.

Give your neighborhood and your neighbors a break. Vote “no” on Initiative 1183.
