SNOHOMISH, Wash. (AP) — A Snohomish High School sophomore was arrested Monday morning after police say she stabbed two girls in a bathroom before the start of classes.
Two high school freshmen were taken to Providence Medical Center in Everett, said police Chief John Turner. One was in critical condition, while the other suffered knife wounds that did not appear to be life-threatening, he said.
The sophomore used a weapon similar to a butcher knife and stabbed one girl at least twice in the chest, Turner said. The motive was unclear.
The stabbing happened around 7:25 a.m. in a restroom area outside an auxiliary gym at the high school, about 35 miles northeast of Seattle. Staff and students heard screams from the area, Turner said. Paramedics treated one of the girls at the scene, while the other girl was escorted to the school office.
