Letter: Maintaining bus service is vital

People who write letters complaining about empty C-Tran buses just don’t understand how buses work. They should ride the buses themselves to find out.

With the exception of a few express buses, most of the buses make frequent stops. Passengers get on. Passengers get off.

You can get on a bus and there will be few empty seats. A little later, passengers will get off then another few stops, more will leave and the bus will be nearly empty.

But then, more passengers will get on and the bus starts to fill up and it goes on and on. So if you see a nearly empty bus, it doesn’t mean nobody is riding. It just means people are not all riding it at the same time.

Often the total ridership is a large number, but you can’t tell it by just seeing one segment.
