PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Southern California authorities are investigating allegations that children were verbally abused and forced to drink water until they vomited at a youth “boot camp.”
Pasadena police Cmdr. Darryl Qualls tells the Pasadena Star-News (http://bit.ly/sWDU95 ) that detectives will question Kelvin McFarland, who they say is in the videos.
McFarland runs Family First Growth Camp in Pasadena, which uses tough-love and military-style discipline tactics. He already faces child abuse charges in another case involving a 14-year-old girl.
The Star-News this week published video clips it said were made at least two years ago. On one, McFarland known as “Sgt. Mac,” and other instructors scream at a boy who has a truck tire around his neck. The boy falls to the ground in tears.
