PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Activist filmmaker Michael Moore has praised “Occupy Portland” demonstrators and told them their movement can’t be stopped because “The American people have had it.”

A crowd of protesters at Terry Schrunk Plaza gave Moore a rousing welcome late Monday afternoon. Last weekend, he visited anti-Wall Street demonstrators in San Francisco.

KGW-TV reports (http://bit.ly/siGIxO) that Moore told the Portland demonstrators that theirs was one of the largest protests he’s seen. Noting tents, he added, “I know it rains a lot here, but you are clearly in for the long haul.”

A handful of protesters expanded their encampment Monday into the plaza, a federal park across the street from the two-block encampment that Occupy Portland has had since Oct. 6.
