Letter: Break up power of committee chairs

In his Oct. 24 column, “Occupy movement, make your point,” Leonard Pitts describes the Occupy movement as a primal scream. We all seem to be saying that something is wrong but we don’t know how to fix it. Power is too concentrated in a few hands in Washington, D.C., due to the power of money in politics.

One suggestion I have for the movement acting within the Constitution of the United States is to target all the committee chairmen in Congress and vote them out of office. Realizing that a chairmanship means a final term in the Congress can have a significant impact on political attitudes and the power structure.

This is one broad issue the Occupy Movement could rally around and involve all of “we the people” in our struggle against the entrenched power in Washington, D.C.
