ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) — An 11-year-old boy who was playing on a log in the surf on the Washington coast was pinned under water briefly Wednesday at Pacific Beach.

Fire department emergency responders say a witness rolled the 20-foot-long log off the boy.

KBKW reports (http://bit.ly/obUquM ) he was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A hospital spokeswoman says he’s in serious condition Thursday in the intensive care unit.
