OAKRIDGE, Ore. (AP) — The Thursday night city council meeting in Oakridge was packed with an emotional crowd split over the campaign to recall three city councilors and the mayor because of a budget crisis.

The Register Guard reports (http://bit.ly/p2PdzD) it was the first large showing of opponents to the recall in the Sept. 20 election.

Critics continued to blame the four elected officials and the city manager for a recently discovered shortfall of $420,000 in the budget for the town of 3,200 people.
