ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins are finally getting a bubble.
The team announced Thursday it is building an indoor practice facility at Redskins Park, to be completed in the fall.
Washington and Cincinnati are the northernmost of the 10 NFL teams without an onsite indoor place to practice. Last year, players piled into cars or buses several times and headed to a gymnasium or airport hangar because of inclement weather.
A bubble was under consideration several years ago, but coach Joe Gibbs didn’t want one because he preferred practicing in the elements.
General manager Bruce Allen says the bubble will also be used for charitable functions.
