ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays have recalled right-hander Andy Sonnanstine from Triple-A Durham and activated catcher Jose Labaton from the 15-day disabled list.
The moves were made before Friday night’s game against Baltimore.
Sonnanstine will pitch out of the bullpen.
Tampa Bay plans to take a look at Lobaton, who was in Friday’s starting lineup, during the final month of the regular season. He had been on the DL because of a sprained left knee.
