KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Klamath County Treasurer Mike Long has been cleared of criminal misconduct in an investigation of the handling of county funds.

The state opened an investigation in October 2010 after two former employees told local authorities about an unexplained $5 million liability and $7 million asset record in the county’s books.

The Klamath Falls Herald and News reports (http://bit.ly/oCntpf ) that the Department of Justice has sent a letter to county leaders saying there’s no evidence of criminal misconduct by Long.
