SEATTLE (AP) — Washington state has suspended the medical license of a doctor charged with fatally stabbing his partner and their 2-year-old son.

The state Department of Health said Friday that Louis C. Chen’s license was suspended because of the murder charges.

Chen pleaded not guilty earlier this week to aggravated murder charges.

He is accused of stabbing 29-year-old Eric A. Cooper and 2-year-old Cooper Chen. Their bodies were found Aug. 11 at their home in a high rise apartment on Seattle’s First Hill.

The 39-year-old Chen is an endocrinologist who recently moved to Seattle from Durham, N.C., to work at a medical center. He’s being held without bail in the King County Jail.
