PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Multnomah County sheriff’s office says four rafters missing were located after spending the night on the Sandy River’s banks.

The office says the rafters were part of a larger party of people floating down from Dodge park to Oxbow park on the Sandy River. The party was found by a couple looking for their dog near a campsite around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. The rafting party then informed the couple, who had a cell phone and called authorities, that four of their members were missing. The party had begun floating on Saturday.

A few hours later, deputies looking for the missing rafters found the 38-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man and his three teenage sons safe, but cold in two different spots along the river.
