SEATTLE (AP) — An Anchorage, Alaska, man accused of biting an Alaska Airlines crew member during a struggle after a flight landed in Seattle has been charged with third-degree assault, a felony.
Seattlepi.com reports (http://bit.ly/repKvb) that 38-year-old Jack A. Parlin was charged Wednesday and held on $50,000 bail. Arraignment was scheduled Sept. 19. It was not immediately known whether he had a lawyer.
In charging documents, King County prosecutors say Parlin acknowledged biting someone Monday near the parked plane’s exit door. The man reportedly told police he was anxious to get off the plane. Port of Seattle Detective Steven Ivey told the court that when he asked Parlin about the bite the man said it was his “last ditch effort” to avoid being sent to a hospital for a mental evaluation. Port police found the flight first officer’s arm bleeding from a large, deep bite.
Several passengers and crew members on Flight 108 from Anchorage helped subdue the unruly passenger.
