HOUSTON (AP) — Texans coach Gary Kubiak says running back Arian Foster’s status is uncertain for Houston’s opener against Indianapolis because of a left hamstring injury.
Kubiak said Wednesday that Foster “has improved every day,” but remains “day to day.” Kubiak said Foster will be re-evaluated Thursday.
Foster, the 2010 NFL rushing champion, hurt his hamstring early in training camp, then aggravated it in the Texans’ preseason game in San Francisco on Aug. 27. He’s been limited in practice since, and Kubiak acknowledged last week that Foster’s injury was “a concern.”
Backups Derrick Ward, Ben Tate and Steve Slaton shared the snaps in practice in Wednesday, while Foster worked individually on a separate field. Kubiak said Foster will play if can get to “full speed” by Sunday.
