VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Longshoremen are no longer blocking railroad tracks in Vancouver, where they claimed victory Wednesday in blocking a grain shipment for a terminal at the Port of Longview.
International Longshore and Warehouse Union International President Robert McEllrath gave a fiery speech to members, saying that the dispute is not over and that it could get ugly.
There were no arrests at the peaceful demonstration in Vancouver.
The Longshore union has been locked in a heated disagreement with the EGT grain terminal in Longview, which uses workers from another union.
A judge issued a restraining order last week against the Longshore union because federal officials have accused protesters of death threats and assaults.
