OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state’s insurance commissioner has ordered the state’s largest health insurer to fix problems that have affected tens of thousands of people.

Mike Kreidler says the Regency Group needs to get its act together. He says an ongoing pattern of errors and problems have directly harmed consumers and health care providers.

He notes computer problems, unpaid claims, and withdrawing money from people’s bank accounts when the account owners were not even insured by Regence.

State insurance regulators from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Utah called Regence Group CEO Mark Ganz to a meeting in Salem, Ore., earlier this month to discuss the problems.
