KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A Richland man who told police he sold heroin to pay for his own addiction pleaded guilty Wednesday to controlled substance homicide for an overdose death.

In addition to the plea in Benton County Superior Court, Brian Haney Burt agreed to plead guilty to a similar charge later this month in Franklin County in a deal with prosecutors who say he is responsible for the overdose deaths of five people in the Tri-Cities.

The Tri-City Herald reports (http://bit.ly/nnHK26) prosecutors are recommending a five-year prison term for the 35-year-old.
