MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks pinch hit and manager Ron Roenicke says the All-Star could return to the starting lineup as early as Sunday if he has no lingering soreness.

Earlier Saturday, Weeks saw about 30 pitches from rookie Mike Fiers in a simulated game before Milwaukee took on Philadelphia and ran to first several times as he continues to recover from a severely sprained left ankle after he turned it running the bases on July 27.

In the seventh, he walked and departed for pinch runner Josh Wilson.

Roenicke says Weeks would only be expected to play a few innings in his first games back as they try to limit the amount of hard movements he makes on the ankle.

Weeks is hitting .272 with 19 homers and 43 RBIs in 105 games.
